Self-adhesive wallpaper

Self-adhesive wallpaper

Self-adhesive wallpaper is best used as a decorative element. Its use is also influenced only by suitable surfaces. It can be placed on a wall, but it can also be used to refresh worn furniture.

Benefits

Its greatest advantage is its extremely rich visuals. Examples include lifelike wood grain, marble pattern, leather effect, realistic tiles and rustic stone patterns. In the range of self-adhesive wallpapers you can find very strong, scratch-resistant, high-gloss pieces.

Another great advantage is the ease of application. While traditional wallpapers require extremely good dexterity and wall surface, self-adhesive versions can even be glued to crooked walls or surfaces. Wallpapering itself is a quick and easy process.

Another great advantage is that, depending on weather conditions, the wallpaper can be applied even outdoors. Self-adhesive wallpaper can withstand outdoor conditions for an average of 2-3 years. If you manage to buy high-quality wallpaper, then there is no obstacle to sticking it in the bathroom or kitchen.

Sticking

For the workflow, you will need a snicker, scissors, ruler, a special plastic trowel knife and, of course, a tape measure. The smooth surface to be wallpapered must be thoroughly dusted and degreased. Failure to prepare will significantly reduce the life of the wallpaper. When wallpapering an untreated surface, it is necessary to apply a layer of primer.

Before gluing, it is necessary to plan what kind of surface, how large pieces of wallpaper, strips will be needed. If you want to wallpaper a specific shape, then it is worth drawing the pattern on the reverse side with a pencil. During production, a mesh of lines is painted on this side, making design easier.

Along the outline of the finished stencil, the wallpaper can be customized very simply, without damage, with the help of scissors. As with traditional wallpapers, it is worth counting a few extra millimeters for a perfect fit, which must be removed with a snicker after gluing.

Air bubbles may form when applied, the appearance of which can be easily eliminated. First, separate only a small part of the back of the wallpaper, fit it exactly on the surface, then gently smooth the wallpaper from the center to the edges with the trowel knife. There may still be small bubbles, carefully pierce them with a needle and squeeze the air out between the wallpaper and the wall. Poorly aligned wallpaper is easy to fix, simply grab it and detach it from the surface. This operation is not feasible for paper surfaces!

Before gluing an uneven, corrugated surface, for a perfect fit, the wallpaper must be heated with the help of a hair dryer. From now on, all that remains is to fit and smooth, however, care must be taken not to stretch the wallpaper too much. As a problem, wallpaper does not stick at the edges. Take out a piece of fabric and an iron. Place the cloth between the wallpaper and the iron, turn the latter on low and drag it over the problematic surface a few times.
