Playing with the sense of space

Playing with the sense of space
Not only when buying clothes, but also when choosing wallpaper, it is necessary to consider the role of colors and patterns. Just as we take into account the features of our body, we must also take into account the dimensions of the apartment, what is "advantageous" for it. There are tricks that can be used to increase or decrease the space optically.

Before buying wallpaper, it is important to assess the parameters of the room, because just as a blouse looks different on everyone, the wallpaper will look different in a bright living room and again differently in a dark or attic room.

Wallpaper can be an accent element in a room, but it can also serve as a plain background on our gray weekdays. Combining colors and textures optically changes the sense of space in the room. When choosing wallpaper, you have to think about how it would optically affect the properties of the room perceived by our eyes.

Large, accented patterns look good on large, open wall surfaces, but they should only be used if the entire pattern will fit on the wall surface and there is no need to cut it or cover certain parts of it with furniture. If you like simplicity and want to extend the space a little, then definitely choose light-toned colors. For example, choose a light color close to white for a narrow corridor. That way, we won't feel that the walls are squeezing us.

Small motifs are better for smaller spaces. In the case of such patterns, take into account that they may lose their effect on large surfaces. It doesn't matter whether we choose wallpaper with a small flower pattern or a small checkered pattern, because very small patterns can lose their effect on large surfaces, but can even look monochromatic when viewed from a distance. It is not at all an easy task to fit these small patterns into the room. Its application is useful on inclined surfaces, for example in attic rooms and rooms. Small flower patterns can stretch the spaces. You also have to think about whether you want to apply the patterned surfaces independently, or whether you only envisioned them for a small part of the room. It is important to note that the latter variation, i.e. the combination of patterned and plain surfaces, is more pleasing to the eye.

Interesting facts, important information

Horizontal stripes make the space longer, but floor-to-ceiling stripes reduce the ceiling height, so you have to use these solutions wisely. If you want to brighten up the room with a little striping, then choose one or two of the four walls and apply striped wallpaper only to these places. This avoids the optical narrowing of the space.

Warm colors create a dynamic effect, but it is worth supplementing them with some light colors to create a pleasant harmony in the room. It is believed that those who spend most of their time in a red office can be much more energetic, but they can quickly become "entangled" due to the color's strong energy.

Hint! The two shorter, farther walls of a rectangular room should be wallpapered in red, thus tricking the eye and making the space seem a little more symmetrical.

So it can be seen that there are many tricks that can be used to optically expand or shrink the space, without drilling or carving.
